Operations field guides.

Look past the successful API call. Measure accepted tasks, inspect failures, and keep privacy, budgets, and recovery part of the design.

Operations starts with a definition of success that belongs to the user rather than the transport layer. A response may arrive quickly and still fail validation. A cheap first attempt may require expensive repairs. This collection connects those observations to a task-level measurement plan, so an efficiency change can be judged alongside its effect on quality.

Begin by tracing a single task through queueing, retrieval, inference, validation, and presentation. Record which steps are measured directly and which costs are estimated. Keep failed and abandoned work in view. Before adding alerts, decide which conditions deserve action and document the safe fallback or rollback you would use.

The operations guide pairs naturally with the structured-output and prompt-versioning articles. Together they make it possible to compare releases without losing the reasons behind acceptance or rejection. Treat telemetry as a product with its own access and retention rules: useful debugging does not require a permanent unrestricted copy of every prompt. The security guide provides a companion checklist for reviewing those boundaries.

Take one idea into your own project.

Write a small example of the task, a result you would accept, and a result you would reject. Keep that example beside the guide as you read. The next track connects these concepts to a practical design boundary without requiring a provider account.
